Supporting Undocumented Students with Postsecondary Planning

This is an interactive Zoom workshop. In Missouri, undocumented students are not eligible for state scholarships and are required to pay higher tuition rates than their peers who graduate from the same Missouri high schools. We are pleased to welcome back Felipe Martinez, Senior Student Advisor at The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis, who will provide an overview of the unique challenges faced by undocumented students and how counselors can support them with postsecondary plans.

This full-day event will include a counselor-oriented session on integrating career advising into postsecondary planning, plus deeper dives into high-demand career clusters, including:

  • Advanced manufacturing and production

This is the second of a two-part webinar. Over 400 colleges and universities require the CSS Profile, a financial aid application that is incredibly complex and distinctly different from the FAFSA. In this training, we will walk through the many sections of the CSS Profile, sharing tips for answering tricky questions and providing practice with student scenarios and case studies. We will also discuss potential follow-up steps, including the Noncustodial CSS Profile, waiver request process, and IDOC.

Lots of changes are happening with the FAFSA and verification! We’ll share the latest updates so you can best advise students. In the second hour, we’ll do a virtual walkthrough of the FAFSA. MASFAP In-person Financial Aid Workshop

MASFAP’s Early Awareness Committee is planning in-person high school counselor workshops around Missouri this fall. The St. Louis workshop is 8:30 to 10 AM at Fontbonne University. St. Louis Graduates is a co-host. Click on the registration link to register for the St. Louis workshop or to find one in another part of Missouri. Participants will be provided a to-go box lunch. Masks are required, and all workshops are subject to cancellation based on public health updates.
